At the end of this course, participants will have a broad understanding of applicable OHS legislation and hazard identification and control (which is a critical element of an OHS management system). This will allow for effective participation, leadership and continuous improvement within their respective in-house OHS management systems.
AN OHS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IS DEPENDENT ON THIS KEY ELEMENT
A hazard is any work-related condition or behaviour that is likely to cause injury, illness, or property/environmental damage. Every employer must assess their work sites to identify existing or potential hazards before work begins, and must develop methods to eliminate or control the hazards. It is important to involve the workers in this hazard identification and control process in order to maximize the effectiveness of this element within the OHS management system.
Course Content
- Applicable OHS legislation
- Hazard identification and control

Format and Methodology
The course is designed to be delivered in a one-day format, and can be modified to meet the specific objectives of the respective client and site. The course focuses significantly on “hands-on” interactive methods; group work and discussion is encouraged.
Participants are provided with a workbook to minimize the need to take notes and to
maximize participation. The workbook also allows for better retention of knowledge and can be used as individualized follow up reference material.
Participants will be requested to evaluate the workshop, and a course validation process has been built into the participant workbook. |
