Raising Awareness of the Importance of Effective Guarding of Machinery.
Every year, physical contact with machines and power equipment results in a significant number of life-altering injuries such as disfigurement and amputations. In some cases they even account for workplace fatalities. Most if not all of these incidents are entirely preventable.
Are your machines effectively guarded?
Want to know if your machine guards meet the relevant legal standards? Then we suggest that you train the key people on your organization to recognize the need and assess the effectiveness of machine guarding.
Supporting you to assess your machine guarding needs
The BC Food Processors Health and Safety Council (BCFPHSC) has developed two separate workshops that provide invaluable, practical information and specialist advice on the most up to date approaches to machine guarding.
- A general awareness workshop is available to organizations needing to raise awareness of machine guarding amongst production supervisors, machine operators and general workers. The workshop covers identification, evaluation techniques and tools, control measures, legislative requirements, management and maintenance considerations and types and applications of machine guards.
- A more in depth and technical course is available to organizations requiring to up skill and refresh awareness of machine guarding amongst engineering managers, millwrights, electricians, mechanics and other trades. This workshop focuses on more detailed approaches to risk assessment, legislation and Canadian Standards pertaining to machine guarding. The workshop aims to introduce user friendly processes for identifying solutions to complex machine guarding situations.
Expert facilitation
At the BCFPHSC quality is our number 1 priority. With this in mind we have sourced an expert facilitator for these workshops in order to give you access to the most innovative and contemporary machine guarding concepts and solutions.
