At the BC Food Processors Health and Safety Council (the ‘Council’), we believe safety management is an essential part of good business management, both for individual companies and for the industry as a whole.

A survey of BC food processors assessed their need for health and safety information and support. Survey results show a very high level of interest in gaining support and information on a variety of matters including workplace wellness, health and safety training programs and orientation programs. The survey results also show a culture of good will and commitment within the industry. There is a marked desire to take responsibility for the safety of workers, the public and the environment. The goal of the SYNERGY Program is to tap into the latent potential to support the long-term health of the industry and its workforce.

The SYNERGY Program is designed to strengthen BC’s food processing industry by helping participating companies establish health and safety management systems that build competitive advantages into their day-to-day management and operations. By working in small groups, participants will have the opportunity to gain greater insight into health and safety problems and challenges, resulting in better individual solutions for their companies.
